Shovels and Rope, Hayes Carll Kick Off Friday Cheers

Friday Cheers kicked off the summer concert season on Friday and it couldn’t have been a better day for a show. Perfect weather. Amazing crowd. And two phenomenal artists played sets that got the crowd going. Three years ago, I wrote a post called “Why Friday Cheers Sucks” and after this show, I took everything I said back. This series has really stepped it up and it’s going to be a great set of shows coming this summer.

For the Artist Confidential video series, which I’m helping to produce, we got to interview Hayes Carll, who was very genuine and down to earth. Watch the video above and check out performances by both artists below.

This week’s show features The Lone Bellow, who are making a return trip to Richmond after their wildly successful show at Strange Matter last month, and Radical Face. I’ve got a bunch of tickets to give away, so keep an eye on the Facebook and Twitter pages for a chance to win.

  1. I love these videos! You and Jessi did a phenomenal job with the live recordings and artist interviews. I can’t wait to see the rest of the series. Keep it up!
