In 1991, Lil’ Ronnie & the Blue Beats were on top of the Richmond blues/R&B emerging in the heart of Shockoe Bottom.
The band played sold-out shows left and right, was in negotiations with a major international blues record label, and had begun recording their second album. Unfortunately, several members of the Blue Beats experienced a variety of personal and professional life changes that ended the group’s music endeavors. The band broke up and the recording project was put on the shelf and was eventually forgotten.
20 years later, band leader Lil’ Ronnie Owens and producer Marty Gary decided to dust off the tracks and give them a listen. They immediately knew the music had to be released. The result is “Unfinished Business.”
The CD Release Show for “Unfinished Business” takes place Friday, May 2 at LuLu’s.
