Starting October 1, Philadelphia East Coast funk band The Royal Noise will be playing every first Wednesday of the month at Cary St. Café after The Southern Belles had the band open for them back in June.
Founded in 2010 by saxophonist/keyboardist Mike LaBombard, The Royal Noise is a relentless funk dance party. They draw on influences from the great funk masters like Herbie Hancock and Parliament Funkadelic as well as modern music like Umphrey’s McGee and Lotus.
Since then, they have performed consistently across the East Coast from northern NY & VT down to south FL. Once on the road, the line up was given a breath of fresh air with Rodrigo Pichardo (bass) Aaron Zarrow (drums) and Dan Kaplowitz (guitar). On a night to night basis you’re guaranteed a different show with constant experimenting and improvising over heavy grooves, catchy melodies, and instrumental prowess.
